About

Spencer2Welcome! I’m David. I started this site to bring theatre news, reviews and updates to all theatre lovers, and do so from an audience perspective. I’m starting small, but growing.

I’ve been interested in, involved in, radically a fan of, and generally obsessed with theatre and the stage for as long as I can remember. And, as my friends will tell you, that’s quite a long time!

My frustration with modern American theatre has been at times that many productions are barely given an opportunity to survive, with “professional” critics precariously holding their lifelines and dictating their fate well before the general public gets a chance to see them.

I want to encourage people to give a production a chance. As I see various shows I will be blogging about them here. Sort of a “layman’s” blog, if you will. As I write reviews I will be posting from the perspective of the audience. Writing about what the audience sees. I will address the technical; however, I would never want technical prowess to be the sole basis for enjoyment of a live performance.

I will post interviews, cover various events and simply create a venue to help you stay in touch with the community. Both on, off and off-off-Broadway. I am also an avid follower of the London theatre scene and will be including updates from there as well. If you are a producer, press agent or publicist and would like for me to cover a show, please contact me and I would be happy to try to put your production on my list.

I would also like for this site to become a forum for audience, talent and production input and interaction. Please feel free to post your thoughts about productions you’ve seen or plan to see, and to solicit ideas and opinions from others as well. As you’re posting, please keep common courtesy in mind and respect the opinions of others. This is not a site for bashing, but a forum to encourage people to get out and explore new theatre and to provide information and answer questions.

Let’s work together to promote theatre as art – Broadway, off-Broadway, national tours, regional companies and international productions – and encourage all to explore and expand their knowledge of the theatre community.
